Intensive workshop in the Superadobe or Earthbag technique during 16 days where you will build a dome at a  structural and finishing level, using earth as the main material. You will acquire full practical and theoretical training on Superadobe tech. We will adapt the foundations of the structures to humid climates

Course aimed to: Anyone who has affinity with eco-building,  anyines who is interested in self-construction and loves earth homes. It is also aimed at architects and technicians who wish to learn Superadobe at a practical level, those who are interested in expanding their know-how in the environment of natural materials such as adobe and lime.

Location: A small town called Almócita in Almería. Spain.

Program: The training program consists of a theoretical and a practical part, studying each and every one of the phases necessary for the construction of a Superadobe structure.

We will learn to use lime as a 100% natural, ecological stabilizing element with excellent construction qualities. We will learn the fundamentals of ecological construction, in a natural and sustainable environment. All materials used will be ecological and easily recyclable.

Program contents:

Theory:

• Fundamentals of Superadobe: Composition and test. Practice and discussion on the different types of soils.
• Stabilizers in Superadobe. Knowing lime, properties, types and uses.
• Theory and use of the compass in construction.
• Geometric Principles of the arch, vault and dome.
• Technical design and drawing models.
• Different foundation systems adapted to each climate.
• Coatings for Superadobe.
• Land planning, building orientation and passive air conditioning strategies.
• Audiovisual educational space.

• Layout of plans on the ground.
• Foundation, drainage and insulation.
• Handling of sandbags and barbed-wire.
• Openings forndoors and windows.
• Construction of walls.
• Placement and handling of the compass on site.
• Window eye-brows.
• Lintels for opennings.
• Preparation and use of frames.
• How to close the top roof of a dome.

Enrollment: Theoretical-practical call of 115 teaching hours.

€550, for registrations until March 10, €650 onwards. Registration open until spaces are filled.
