SUPERADOBE HANDS-ON WORKSHOP

Inmersive training in the Superadobe Ecobuiding technique along 16 days during which we will practice hands-on in the construction of a dome.

We will use earth and lime as base materials. You will acquire practical /theorical training about all the technical aspects of construction with Superadobe. We will study how to adapt the construction to different climates.

Get the knowledge to feel comfortable in the use of lime as a 100% natural, ecological enhacer/aditive with excellent construction qualities. All used materials are ecological and easily recyclable.

We will learn the fundamentals of ecological construction, in a natural and sustainable environment.

Course aimed at: People with interest in bioconstruction with earth, architects and technical architects who wish to learn indepth the possibilities of this bioconstructive technique and construction professionals to  expand the knowledge in natural materials.

Location: Almócita, Almería. Spain.

CONTENTS OF THE TRAINING PROGRAM

Theory:

• Fundamentals of Superadobe: Composition and rehearsals. Practice and discussion on the different types of soils.

• Enhacers for Superadobe. Knowing lime, cement and its applications.

• Theory and use of the compass in construction.

• Different foundation systems adapted to each climate.

• Geometric Principles of the arch and the vault.

• Fundamentals for the technical design of models.

• Design your own models. Technical drawing of models.

• Land planning, building orientation and passive air conditioning strategies.

• Coatings for Superadobe.

• Budget calculation.

• Cinema-Forum Space.

Practice:

• Layout the plans of a dome over the terrain.

• Foundation, drainage and insulation.

• Handling of sandbags and barbed-wire in construction.

• Opening of passageways and windows.

• Construction of walls.

• Pre-installations.

• Placement and management of the compass on site.

• Window visors/eyebrows.

• Lintels for passageways.

• Preparation and use of forms for holes.

• Enclosure of a dome.

b) August 31 to September 15, 2024

Tuition fee: €550, for registrations until:

a) July the 20th

b) August the 12th;

€600 up to these early birth limit dates.

It includes:

1. Theoretical and practical training program of 105 teaching hours.
